Our History

Evergreen Power Ltd was founded in 2005 as Evergreen Power Solutions, a division of Evergreen Home & Cottage Inc.  Our work was focused on providing residential wiring services for new homes and cottages, additions, and re-wiring older homes.  2006 marked our entry into the Solar Industry as we began installing off-grid Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems for our cottage customers who were located far from existing power lines.   

Our solar energy business expanded to Solar Thermal systems in 2008 when we began installing commercial-scale systems designed to reduce natural gas costs for high-volume hot water consumers, such as car washes and larger apartment buildings.  Commercial Solar Thermal installations are still a part of our business, though their popularity is tied to the availability of government funding programs such as the EcoEnergy program. 

Evergreen Power was very well positioned for the launch of the Feed In Tarrif program following the legislation of the Green Energy Act in February, 2009.  We began actively promoting grid-tied PV systems as an excellent investment for our customers, and ensured that our staff was fully trained on the design and installation of high quality PV equipment.  In December 2009 Evergreen Power was awarded a contract by the Ministry of Education to design, install, and commission 10 kW grid-tied PV systems on 14 schools across the province.  This contract formed the foundation for significant growth at Evergreen Power; the supply chain established during the execution of this contract helped significantly lower our material costs, which in turn provided significant savings to our individual retail customers. 

Evergreen Power now has the capacity to supply and install over 1200 kW of Solar PV equipment annually.  Our goal with each customer is to provide them with the best possible return on investment available through the microFIT or FIT program.  Total Quality is the highest priority at Evergreen Power, meeting our customers' expectations that their investment will perform over the long term.
